This is a navigation device that works with GPS technology using a Costa Rica digital map with routing capabilities created by NAVSAT. This map has been loaded in the device internal memory. When the device is turned on, the system automatically detects the location the driver is at, and displays it on the map. When the user sets a destination, the Navigator generates a route between the user´s current position and the chosen destination. It then guides the user to that destination through audio-visual indications. The most remarkable feature Navigator has is that it knows where traffic jams are, and it leads the driver (within its own scope) through the routes that will avoid traffic congestion when the delay is bigger than the trip time of the alternate route.

Yes, it covers all Costa Rican territory with more than 30.000 points of interest and about 27.000 km of roads. It is the most trusted map for GPS and the most widely used map in Costa Rica.

The process to update your map is very simple. You just need to connect the device to a personal computer and download a file. During the first year, downloads are free. For that purpose, you need to register your product in  www.navsatcr.com. NAVSAT will send a notification every time a new version is available. If you face any inconvenience, our Customer Service department can help you with the update process.

At the moment, updates can only be run on a PC system. We are working to include new platforms such as Mac, Linux, and others. We hope to have these platforms ready before the end of the year.

You sure can! The device allows you to download maps from more than 80 countries, and they are available on the web. Maps can be downloaded either to the internal memory or to an external micro SD card, depending on the size of the information every country’s map has. To download a map, the unit needs to be registered in www.navsatcr.com first.

This device has 1Gb of internal memory.

You can install maps in Micro SD cards, but not on a SD card. You can also install maps in the device's internal memory (if space is available).

No, that is not necessary. Traffic reports go into the GPS through radio, but the device has an internal receiver and an external antenna, which are independent from the car's antenna; therefore, there is no need to tune the radio.

You can call NavSat Customer Service or send an e-mail to the e-mail address found at www.navsatcr.com to report the mistake.

NAVSAT owns the map and is in charge of its updates. This company has been working on collecting the information the map includes for more than 3 years. It has Geographic Information System Department in charge of making all the necessary changes to the map.

The map is NAVSAT’s property, and NAVSAT is in charge of updating the information on the map. To include new places or points of reference to the map, contact NAVSAT’s GIS (Geographic Information Systems) department at 2205-1400.

You need to contact the store you purchased the device at. You need to take your receipt with you.

You can create a backup using the Toolbox application that is downloaded to your PC during the registration process.

The device comes with a vehicle suction cup mount, a car charger vehicle power cable, two traffic reception antennas, a USB cable, and a quick start guide. These accessories are the ones required for the correct and good use of the device

You need to contact NAVSAT’s Customer Service Department. In case you have also deleted the unit’s license certificate, the device data cannot be recovered. However, if you deleted the software content only, it is possible for us to update the software. Personal information is considered user’s property; under no circumstances will NAVSAT recover such type of information. It is highly recommended to backup the device information constantly with the Toolbox application installed during the registration process.

NavSat obtains real-time traffic reports through its own traffic monitoring center. This department obtains information from several sources such as thousands of automatic mobile sensors that move around, company motorcycles that circulate through the city carrying information, TV cameras located at different points in the country, agreements with other companies, among other sources. The information is processed through specialized software for real-time traffic, and it is then sent to the GPS units through radio signal.

There is a traffic monitoring center where traffic events from all around the country are processed. You can report an incident to 800-TRAFICO, which is a toll free number to  report and make consults about route event reports.

You need to make sure you have carefully read the device instructions. Make sure you have properly installed the traffic antenna, and you are located in a place where there is good radio reception. If the problem persists, please contact NavSat’s Customer Service Department.

Once event reports have been received by the Traffic Monitoring Center, they are sent to the GPS devices within 1 minute average. Reception time depends on the RDS radio reception signal. This is a continuous process that takes place all day long.

Traffic events are given a priority depending on their impact on traffic flow. Delay and traffic jam times are calculated in relation to their impact on the average traffic speed and the estimated travel time on a particular road. A 10-minute delay due to slow traffic means that, to complete the same trip on that road, it will take 10 more minutes than the usual time taken when there is not any traffic event.

Not necessarily. It only needs to be plugged into the vehicle when there is not battery power left. The GPS device charges itself when plugged into the vehicle’s power supply even if Navigator is in use. After having the unit connected for a while, it will be able to work without being plugged in. In fact, if you leave the unit charging until the red light turns green, it will work independently for about 1.5 hours. In addition, Navigator can also be charged through a USB cable connected to a PC. While in the vehicle, it is recommended to keep the unit constantly plugged into the power supply.

That is not possible. Navigator shows routes that are generated based on your initial position and your destination. It also considers traffic restrictions, turns, traffic jams, etc. These routes are the best options in terms of speed, distance, ease, and economy. From those four options, you can choose the one you prefer (the route based on speed is selected by default), but you cannot save a route you modified. What you can save are favorite points of reference, and you can ask the device to guide you from any given point in the country to that destination in an easy and simple way.

Voice communications will only be provided if there is any incident affecting the route to a destination you had previously selected. You can check live events at any time, but the device will only provide voice communication for events within your route and when it is necessary to change the route.

Currently, only one schedule is being used for traffic restrictions and way orientation. The device considers the schedule with the highest vehicle flow. There are studies being conducted to incorporate traffic restrictions according to schedules and they will be ready by the end of the year.

As of now, in Costa Rica there is no traffic report service available for Garmin devices. NAVSAT is working together with Garmin to incorporate a traffic report service to its devices in Costa Rica. However, there is not an estimated time of when that service will be available for Garmin devices.

The traffic report service costs around 3,000 Colones (Costa Rican currency) per month, which will be paid in one single annual renewal payment (36,000 Colones per year). The service renewal is optional and it includes map updates for another year.

NavSat only provides this service in Costa Rica. You can get maps of other countries, but they do not include real-time traffic reports.

No, Navigator does not come with Bluetooth.
